Mrs. Campos
I have worked at Kilby for two years. Before that I worked as an energy consultant. This past year I stayed home with my son but now I am back for my third year at Kilby. My degree is in Economics and Spanish from the College of William and Mary.

The thing that I like most about working at Kilby is working with the wonderful students and staff! Also, the most important thing for parents and students to remember is to keep a positive attitude.

In the future I plan to get an ESOL degree.

First Grade Field Trips
We are planning two field trips for first grade in May.  The tentative dates are as follows:

May 14th-National Zoo
May 26th-Theaterworks USA play, Click Clack Moo

We are looking for parent chaperones for both field trips.  We will send letters and permission slips home with your child in the coming weeks.
Math Handbooks
Families,
First grade has math handbooks available for you to use at home to help with your child's math homework.  They also include great math activities to do with your child at home.  If you would like to check one out for the year, please let me know.  The books will need to be returned when your child finishes first grade in June 2010.
Popcorn
There will be popcorn available for purchase on Fridays for $0.25 per bag.  Please send in the money on Fridays with your child.  Thanks!
Daily Homework
Students should read for 20-30 minutes and study sight words and spelling words each night.  Students should be bringing their library books home each day.  For students taking the AR tests, library books should be read and discussed each evening.

Mondays: Practice word sort and weekly words
Tuesdays: Skills worksheet
Wednesdays: Practice word sort and weekly words
Thursdays: Skills worksheet
Friday:  Read for 20 minutes each evening

We will have weekly spelling tests on our word sort words each Friday.  Students are expected to read their sight words correctly by Friday.  We send home the list of sight words on Mondays.
